The International Students Association (ISA) of the Catholic University of Ghana successfully organised its annual ISA Week from 24 to 29 March 2026 as part of the MANDELA Erasmus+ Project on multiculturalism. The week-long programme was designed to promote cultural diversity, student engagement, academic excellence and social integration among both international and local students. The opening events were colourful and lively, with students wearing a variety of traditional outfits and proudly showcasing their cultural identities.
One of the highlights of the week was a series of cultural dance performances in which students presented traditional dances that reflected their histories and ways of life. The performances were energetic and engaging, helping to promote cultural awareness and unity across the student body.
Music also played a central role in the celebration. Students performed on traditional instruments, especially drums, creating a joyful atmosphere and underscoring the importance of African musical heritage.
Participants took part in activities that showcased cultural practices and practical skills, illustrating that culture is lived daily and not only discussed in the classroom. Through workshops, demonstrations and performances, students gained a deeper understanding of different cultures and developed an appreciation for values such as respect, unity, identity and tolerance.
The ISA Week 2026 celebration was a clear success: it demonstrated that students from diverse backgrounds can live, study and learn together harmoniously. More importantly, the programme served as a reminder of the need to preserve and protect cultural heritage in a rapidly changing world. Students did not only learn about culture — they experienced it, enjoyed it and recognised their role in keeping it alive.
